Sharon Road at Eastburn Road Improvements

This project is located on Sharon Road at Eastburn Road. The project proposes a curve realignment adding a left-turn lane from Sharon Road on to Eastburn Road and removing the superelevation.

CMPD Animal Care and Control Phase 3 Expansion

The purpose of the CMPD Animal Care and Control, Phase 3 Expansion project is primarily to provide additional kennels for dogs and reduce the increasing rate of euthanasia.  Secondly, to provide additional space for other animals and improve the efficiencies of operations for the facility.  The expansion of the facility will possibly be located at 2700 Toomey Avenue and the parcel is currently 4.67 acres. This is the old location for the Animal Humane Society.  We are currently in the advanced planning phase to acquire a schematic design to confirm the estimated construction cost.

The Construction delivery system will be Progressive Design Build. It is also anticipated that the city will acquire an Owner’s Advisor to assist with procurement and additional services during design and construction.

Cross Charlotte Trail (XCLT)− Matheson to Craighead

The Matheson to Craighead segment of the Cross Charlotte Trail will implement a 14-foot shared use path beginning at E 36th Street. The path will continue down Cullman Ave and board walk up into a pedestrian bridge spanning the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks utilizing a prefabricated structure within railroad right of way. The structure will then connect to the existing trail built by Brand Properties within the Kaleido Noda apartment complex.

Firehouse #11 Replacement

Charlotte Firehouse #11 located at 620 W. 28th Street is one of the older CFD facilities. The building has a pressing need for repair and upgrades. This project will remove and replace the existing firehouse with a facility which meets modern day needs.  The project will produce a new 17,000 SF, 4-bay two-story firehouse.

Asphalt and Concrete Repair Service

The scope of this project shall be to provide asphalt and concrete repair Services for Charlotte Water, a department of the City of Charlotte.  Asphalt and concrete repair work includes repair to damaged pavement, sidewalks, and driveways caused by water and sewer main breaks, settlement, or other damages on city streets and private driveways.   In some cases, the damage from a water main break can be extensive and require significant pavement removal, excavation, backfilling, and replacement operations in an expeditious fashion. The services may include removal, placement, and compaction of backfill or other related work in addition to asphalt and concrete repair.

Beatties Ford Sidewalk Phase 1

This project will improve the curbs, driveway, sidewalks and ramps for Beatties Ford Road between Russell Avenue and Lasalle Street. Concrete shall be 6-inch Portland cement, asphalt shall be two-inch course and four-inch intermediate course. Gravel shall be six-inch incidental stone. Limits of proposed slopes are indicated in the plans. The contractor shall maintain erosion control devices in accordance with the appropriate city and state erosion and sediment control ordinances. Contractor shall sawcut existing asphalt and/or concrete surfaces prior to removal unless otherwise directed by the engineer. Project length is 0.281 miles.

Firehouse #30 Replacement

Firehouse #30, currently located at 4707 Belle-Oaks Drive, near Charlotte Douglas Airport, is currently located in a house built in 1955 and needs extensive renovations. The facility is the only firehouse where crews must leave their living quarters to access their apparatus, as a result, in impacting response time.

Firehouse #30 design services with the use of Advance Planning funds will be utilized to build a replacement 3-bay 2-story firehouse to manage response volumes in the Beam Road/Airport area. The new facility will be approximately 14,000 square feet. The building will be located at 3019 Beam Road, directly across from the Police and Fire Academy, and the parcel ID number is 141-24-104. It is located in Council District 3. The firehouse design will be the same floor plan design as Hidden Valley Firehouse #45 (HVFH#45).  This project is also designated to be an all-electric firehouse and additional scope will be added.

Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons Installation – REBID

The City of Charlotte is soliciting bids for the procurement of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) Systems. The RRFB Systems will be placed at High‐Visibility Enhanced Crosswalk locations. This contract will include the purchase and installation of the flashing beacons systems.
